Chief Executive Officer
Denise has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare administration in both acute care and acute rehabilitation hospitals. From 1986 until 1994 she was director of nursing/patient care services at HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital and, in 1995, assumed additional responsibility for HealthSouth Treasure Coast Rehabilitation Hospital. Denise became chief executive officer of HealthSouth Treasure Coast in 1996 and remained in that position until 1999 when she became chief executive officer and director of operations at HealthSouth Sea Pines. She graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Dr. Juan Lebron
Dr. Lebron earned his MD from the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara in Mexico, and joined Sea Pines upon completion of his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PMR) at the State University of New York in Syracuse. As a native of Humacao, Puerto Rico, Dr. Lebron is fluent in Spanish and has settled into the Brevard County lifestyle comfortably. He is happy to be able to see patients in the only acute rehabilitation hospital setting in Brevard County, where he specializes in the rehabilitation of patients suffering from stroke, neurological disorders, hip fractures, traumatic brain injury, and amputations, to name a few.
Dr. Juan Lebron is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Dr. Dionne Casthely
Stroke Program Director
Dr. Casthely earned her D.O. from Nova Southeastern College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie, FL, and completed her training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She worked at Baptist Hospital Center for Spine Care in Miami prior to relocating to Melbourne. Dr. Casthely is comfortable working with patients in need of rehabilitation from diagnoses including but not limited to spinal cord injury, stroke and brain injury. She is also multi-lingual, and is fluent in French, Creole and Medical Spanish.
Dr. Dionne Casthely is an independent private practice physician whose office is located at the hospital.
Chief Financial Officer
A 23-year HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital veteran, Dana has nearly 20 years of healthcare experience. She is responsible for all accounting functions, including patient business services, accounts payable, payroll, purchasing, medical records and dietary. Dana is a 1996 graduate of Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, with a master’s degree in business administration specializing in hospital administration.
Director of Human Resources
Jim holds a bachelor’s in business administration from St. Leo University, and a master’s degree in employment law from Nova Southeastern University. He has been certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) since 2010. Jim joined Sea Pines in 2012, bringing with him the benefit of his more than 30 years health care experience, as well as more than 15 years in the human resources area. He oversees all areas of human resources including, recruitment and retention, regulatory compliance, compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, and training.
Director of Marketing Operations
Greg joined HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in 2005, where his hospital responsibilities include oversight of the marketing, business development, and admissions functions. He is a 1985 graduate of Western Illinois University with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare marketing, business development and managed care.
Director of Therapy Operations
Kersten has been a physical therapist for seven years and has worked in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, home health care and long term acute care both as a staff therapist and a director. She joined the HealthSouth Sea Pines team in the fall of 2012. Kersten is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a master’s of science in rehabilitation sciences degree, and a doctor of physical therapy degree.
Director of Outpatient Services
Laura has been a physical therapist for 26 years and has worked in acute care, pediatrics, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. She earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in physical therapy from Hahnemann University in 1983. She also has a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Central Florida.
Chief Nursing Officer
Corinne holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Kean University in New Jersey, and a master’s degree in nursing from Walden University, with a specialty in leadership and management. Certified in rehabilitation nursing since 1989, and certified in executive nursing practice since 2010, Corinne joins HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital with over 30 years experience as a nursing leader in both acute hospital and acute rehabilitation settings. She served three years on the Board of Palm Coast Association of Rehabilitation Nurses.
Director of Quality and Risk Management
Janell Smith joined HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in 2013, with a focus on facility operations, regulatory compliance, quality and patient safety. Prior to joining HealthSouth Sea Pines, she worked in the acute care hospital setting in various leadership roles and as a risk manager in the health insurance setting. She earned her bachelor’s degree in organization communication and business, holds a master’s degree in science and health services administration, as well as a license as a health care risk manager from the University of Central Florida. Janell has served as a board member with the American College of Healthcare Executives for the last two years.
Director of Case Management
Kathleen joined HealthSouth Sea Pines Rehabilitation Hospital in 2011 with 38 years of experience as a registered nurse. She has worked for HealthSouth since 1988 as a nurse liaison, case manager and program manager for the sub acute unit and has also served as the director of patient care services and held the position of chief nursing officer. She is a graduate of the College of New Jersey with a master's degree in nursing.
